HOW TO USE THE SAFFRON PISTILS

t is very simple to use the saffron properly: you only have to soak it in hot water for 40/60 minutes. If you are doing a fast recipe, we will explain you how to use it for your meals.

HOT WATER

Pour a little bit of hot water in a cup and put the pistils inside. Instead of water you can use milk or broth.

INFUSION

Cover up the pistils and let them rest for 40/60 minutes, until you'll see the water becoming yellow.

READY TO USE

Pour the cup's content on your recipe, if possible wait until the end of the cooking.

INFUSION

If you do not use all the infusion, you can store it in the fridge for 48 hours.

The doses depend on the recipe you decided to follow, but usually the advised dose is 0,2 grams every 4-6 people.

Some suggestions

Do not let the saffron cook with your meal, it is better to add it at the end to maintain all the characteristic flavour.

If you are not in a hurry try to prolong the infusion time, two hours will be perfect to release all the saffron properties in the hot water.

You can pour the saffron directly in the broth, perfect for the milanese risotto.

You can pour the saffron in the milk, if you want to do a diary based souce.

For the perfect infusion you should maintain the water hot. You can put the cup in water bath, but be careful not to boil it.

When the saffron brew is ready, pour it in the recipe with the pistils. You will garnish your dish for the nose, the tongue and the eyes.

If you are in a hurry and you have just 20 minutes to brew the saffron, you can break the pistils.

If you just want the saffron powder, you should break the pistils closing them into a paper envelope and pressing them with a glass bottom.

Your saffron brew is now ready to be used. If you want to conserve it, you can store it in a refrigerator for 48 hours.
